(otherwise known as Kingston, Ontario) Highway 2 enters the city through a massive rock-cut hill of limestone which leads down to the gateway of the Rideau River where it meets Lake Ontario. Sometimes I focus on capturing the retreating landscape atmosphere(as in this painting), other times it is the play of light, or often the interaction of the shapes of this view that I find appealing to centre my attention on. It's interesting to me how many different paintings can be inspired by one place. (Then again...think of how many times Cezanne painted Mont St. Victoire)

Please take a look at her art blog "PaintersLife" and Sally's web site "Stoneheath Studio" where you will also find her oil paintings.

---------------------------------------------------------

Today's link to an abstract painting: My son's second acrylic

Landscape painting by Anne Kullaf: Parkway South

Copyright by Anne Kullaf

This is the first work that I'm presenting on my new landscape painting gallery.
It's a painting by Anne Kullaf.

Title: Parkway South
Size: 24 in x 48 in
Medium: Oil on canvas

Artist's Statement:
This painting is part of a series that focuses on the urban landscape. I am often asked why I paint traffic and run down areas of the city and its surrounding environs. Traffic moving along a highway or a gridlock in the city contains so many interesting patterns of movement, color, light and repetition that I am compelled to paint what might be considered an ugly landscape by most. I find the rusted colos of industry in stark contrast with the sheen of metal on new cars to be an interesting visual study in texture and motion.

Anne's paintings have been exhibited primarily in New York City and New Jersey.
Please check out her website "Anne Kullaf - Original Paintings".

---------------------------------------------------------

Today's link to an abstract painting: Painting by Lesly Finn: Beginnings

Call to Landscape Painters

Submit your Landscape Art.

Are you a landscape painter and do you have a blog related to art?
Would you like to show one of your landscapes on this artblog?

That's no problem!

All what I need:

Title of your landscape artwork.
Size of the work.
The used media.
A few words about you and if you want, a short artist statement of up to 6 or 7 sentences.

Your permission to publish an image of your painting on my art blog.

A picture of the landscape as an attachment via email.
or
A link to the post about the landscape painting that you want to exhibit on this weblog.
